I’ve been a bit disappointed with pub food lately but the food here is great! I stopped for a quick pint but ended up ordering some keema loaded fries and paprika squid, as the food smelt so good. Everything was served by some friendly and helpful ladies, looking forward to visiting again.
Not bad, not great. For context, nobody is actually expecting anything that looks like authentic tapas in a pub in Derbyshire, but the effort was a bit of a mixed bag. Nice place. Good service. Lovely staff. Some of the best cooked squid I've had anywhere - 5 stars, big points! Patatas bravas wasn't bad, might have gone a bit OTT with the paprika, which leaves it with a weird dusty taste. Chorizo and meatballs were pretty good. Without doubt the worst hummus in the world - what on earth was it meant to taste like? Vodka? But the crispy chicken! What sort of crispy chicken possibly equals a chicken goujon chopped into pieces? It's neither actual chicken nor crispy! Bit of a gamble depending what you order.
Really great tapas menu. 10 items for £32 worked out really well (some dishes are more expensive than others so choose wisely). Service was excellent and we ordered a jug of their own made Sangria and a jug of Pimms and Lemonade. The chilli nachos are also a big hit.
Friendly staff, had the black swan house burger (single) so filling, lovely evening, wish we found it earlier when stopping in Belper, recommended booking was busy when we arrived lucky to get the last free table
Our server Caitlin was such a bubbly helpful lemon, made my day, such a lovely girl, chips came in less than 2 mins what more can you want.
